Incheon International Airport: Complete Arrival Guide

Incheon International Airport (ICN) is South Korea’s main international gateway, serving over 60% of all international arrivals. Located approximately 60 kilometers west of downtown Seoul, the airport is consistently ranked among the world’s best for efficiency, cleanliness, and traveler convenience. This guide walks you through every step of the arrival process.

Step 1: Arrival at Incheon International Airport

Incheon Airport operates two passenger terminals:

  • Terminal 1: Handles most international airlines

Free shuttle buses run between terminals every 5-10 minutes, taking approximately 15 minutes.

After Landing:
  • Wait for the seatbelt sign to turn off before gathering belongings

  • Proceed down to the immigration level following clear directional signage

Step 2: Information & Customs Declaration

E-Arrival Card (Optional, Recommended)

Some foreign nationals may submit an E-Arrival Card online before departure.
Submitting the electronic arrival card may replace the paper arrival form, depending on nationality, visa status, and entry conditions. In some cases, travelers may still be asked to complete a paper form upon arrival.

  • Official website: https://www.e-arrivalcard.go.kr/portal/main/index.do?locale=EN
  • When accepted, the submitted information is digitally linked to the immigration system, which may help streamline the arrival process
  • Eligibility and availability vary by nationality and travel circumstances, so travelers are advised to check in advance

Customs Declaration

All passengers entering Korea with items to declare must complete a customs declaration.
Travelers may choose between online submission or paper forms.

Online Submission (Recommended)
  1. Download the “Korea Customs Declaration for Travelers” app (Android / iOS)
  2. Complete the declaration before arrival (offline completion is available during flights)
  3. Receive a QR code after submission
  4. Scan the QR code at the customs automated lane upon arrival
Paper Forms
  • Paper declaration forms are distributed on international flights and are also available in the arrival hall
  • Only one form is required per family
