Major Changes at Incheon Airport (Effective Jan 2026)
📢 Important Update: Asiana Airlines has moved to Terminal 2!
Following Korean Air, Asiana Airlines—the other major national carrier of South Korea—has officially relocated to Terminal 2 (T2) as of January 2026.
While arriving at the wrong terminal might be manageable, departing from the wrong one can be a disaster. I once arrived at Terminal 1 without thinking and lost a significant amount of time transferring to Terminal 2. Don’t make the same mistake—check your ticket in advance!
🏢 Airline Relocation Status by Terminal
| Terminal | Major Airlines |
| Terminal 1 (T1) | Luftenza, Singapore, Cathypacific, etc |
| Terminal 2 (T2) | Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Delta, Air France, KLM, etc. |
⏳ Transferring Between Terminals
Although it’s just “one stop” away via train or bus, it feels like a 20 to 30-minute delay for a traveler in a hurry.
- Airport Railroad (AREX): Takes about 6 minutes between T1 and T2.
- Shuttle Bus: The free terminal-to-terminal shuttle takes about 15–20 minutes, including waiting time.
🚍 Tips for Public Transport (Subway & Bus)
When heading to the city center after arrival, remember that Terminal 2 is the starting point for all transportation.
- Airport Railroad (AREX) & KTX: T2 is the final stop/starting station. A huge plus is that you are guaranteed a seat since you are boarding at the origin.
- Airport Limousine Bus: You must purchase your ticket at the Transportation Center on Basement Level 1 (B1) of T2 before boarding.
- 🔑 Key Change: Buses now depart from T2 → T1 → Seoul/Gyeonggi areas. This means you will board 15–20 minutes earlier than passengers at T1. Please factor this into your schedule when planning your trip back or meeting someone.
✨ Why Terminal 2 is Better for Arrivals
Terminal 2 is equipped with the latest facilities to make your entry into Korea smoother.
| Category | Terminal 2 (T2) Arrival Benefits |
| Baggage Claim | Features a state-of-the-art handling system; luggage generally arrives faster than at T1. |
| Arrival Duty-Free | Duty-free shops are located inside the baggage claim area, perfect for last-minute gifts before passing through customs. |
| Transportation Link | The walking distance from the Arrival Hall to the underground Transportation Center (Trains/Buses) is shorter and simpler than at T1. |
